The season is changing and I've racked up a few maintenance items to do before the colder, rainy season hits us (oil change, rear brake sensors, belt inspections etc). Instead of working alone in my garage (house), I'd love others to join if they have small projects of their own to complete. I can fire up the BBQ at the backyard as well, for some BYO style munching.

Btw Anyone can do the OBC hack here? Drinks reward! :cheers:

Good idea Loren, and I'd definitely love to get his help on this one. I'm not good at asking for help I think, but beer rewards await those who help. Toolpants we need you~ :o

Thanks for bringing the food dude. Hope the weather holds up so we can BBQ at the backyard while working on cars! I'll give more updates during the week but so far i have 5 cars and 4 people coming (I'm baby sitting my friend's Boxster as well as mine). Btw I have an old speaker that you can plug your iphone / ipod into and don't be shy to roll your tracks!

Hi guys, a quick update: I have 6 cars signed up so far with some minor maintenance projects scheduled. Looks like the weather should hold up with a cool breeze so the BBQ should come in handy. For those not yet signed up, please PM me so I can give you the address.

Thanks man - yeah there is quite a bit of work to make sure it's well organized and SAFE! But at the end of the day, it feels great to help each other out and get to catch up with old and new friends.

Don't know if anyone would be interested in this, but I have some old bottled beer that I am about to toss down the drain. Some of it is 4 years old, some 2 years. I'm a non-drinker, and these are leftovers from some gatherings I've had. All of it has been in a cabinet in the garage. I take out a bottle now and again, and my son-in-law and brother-in-law seem to enjoy it. At least, neither has spit it out.

If you'd like it for this gathering, I'll be at the PCA-GGR DentPro Day in Campbell tomorrow, and can bring it there for pick up. Let me know, please.

I would like to use it enable the On-board computer to do the OBC Hack.

Since I changed my radio, I'm unable to have the dealer change it for me. The new dealer testers do not have the ability to override/make changes to items that have faults. (Changing the radio creates a fault on instrument panel & AC).

The OBC was turned on for all cars, including the one the dealer could not do. One of the cars did not have cruise control so that was turned on as well. Even managed to program a remote key without screwing things up.

Now people need to get their parts to do the retrofit.

I'll order my OBC control stalk assembly this week along with Maxodus for his car & his friend's car.

We'll do another WOC event after thanksgiving-- Aiming for 1st week in December.

At the very least, this should give us 3 cars for the retrofit.

I heard you could not do the OBC retrofit on a 2003 because it could not be turned on.....

The part prices are not bad. The price for the 4 stalk steering column switch assembly has gone up $25 more than I expected, but I guess Porsche needs the money after it tried to takeover VW.

The yellow VW repair wires we use are funny. They were used to fix an electrical problem on an old VW Golf. They are yellow so a mechanic can tell the repair has already been made. Or so I have been told. Someone at VW must wonder why people are stilling buying the wires.

The other part needed is a ring terminal for the ground wire. For wire size 22-18, and a 1/4" stud. They come insulated and uninsulated. You do not need the more expensive insulated version because it is for a ground. I use to buy them at an old time electrical supply place, but it has closed.

Ignore the butt connectors in the picture because those are not needed for 2001-2004.

If someone is interested in only seeing the outside temp display then that can be done with just 1 wire. No need to buy the 4 stalk or any other parts.
