Hi first to introduce myself, My name is Terry and my wife just handed me down her 911SC. She wanted a cabriolet hard top type car and found it in a Mercedes. She has specific tastes and this MB 350 SLK showed up. All her vehicles need to be blue, manual trans, 2 seats ..........

We have had this 911 for about 6 years and it does need more work, in the past I have added the pop off valve and the po upgraded to Carrera tensioners.

The 1/2 sycros are bad, still has the rubber centered clutch, one valve cover leak above the #3, exhaust is on its last legs (heater part is 75% gone), factory climate control is not operational (po upgraded most of it but never completed) and no heat due to rotted exhaust.

Short list of work to be done:

Rebuild tranny, new pp,tob& clutch plate

While motor is out - While your in there preventitive work (hoses, heater control valves, exhaust replacement, and what ever else is found.

Remove all ac components - The po installed new Sanden pump, barrier hoses, condenser in left rear wheel, I have not looked too much at the rest.

General plan is to keep the attitude of the original concept of a non sunroof crank window Euro version of a bare bones light 911. Light Low and quick.

I'm sure I'll be seeking advice, comments and knowledge sharing in the future.

Quick question my production number is 00856 would this be a late or early 1979? Anyone off hand know the production numbers for the 79 model year?

Terry

:welcome:

According to Patrick Paternie (Porsche 911 Red Book) there were 2013 911SC Coupes produced for the USA for M Series (August 1978 to July 1979). There were 1965 SC Targas. The numbers start from 0001, so I would think yours was early in the production aeries. Hope this answers your question.
