I have a 2003 Boxster S (Love it) :) There is a rattle sound coming from the passenger dash. Upon investigation I found that it is a solenoid that is the last part attached to the AC system toward the side of the car that seems to be spazing out. The dealer said it was the fresh air vent solenoid that was going out. You can see it twitching under the dash. Has anyone replaced it. it is really close to the side of the car. not much room. What do I need to do to replace this. The mechanic said it was pretty easy, but there really isn't much room to get to it. Any instructions or advice would be appreciated.

Haven't fixed it but I have the "bug". My indie guy said iy doesn't do much and you can reach up under the dash and unplug it. I'd rather fix it if it dosn't involve taking the whole car apart. Be interested in your reply.

Regards, PK

Where is the solenoid? if you can see it, can't you yank it out?

Yep. you can see it from under the dash. It's literally the last part on the end. You can watch it twitch. It's just VERY close to the side of the car, so it looks like you would have to pull the whole unit to get to it, but the mechanic acted as though it was easier than that. I'm kinda like you in the sense that unplugging it would just bother me. I'm a bit of a fanatic and would like everything to be perfect. Besides it looks pretty inexpensive. If I pull it out, I'll take some photos to document it for everyone. He said it was pretty common.
