ignition problem

some times i turn the key/ignition to start the car, all dash lights come on normal but the engine will not turn over

then i push the key IN hard or tap under the dash (under the ignition) and it will start and it fine for days.

what do u guys think ???

Read the DIY on replacing the ignition switch.

You can find it in the 996 DIY - Common Problems section.

HMM

i replaced the Ignition Switch

before putting it all together i started the car and it started fine.

now that i put everything together, nothing

all the lights come on but it will not turn over.

now tapping under the steering wheel will not start the car either.

Check the connections on the switch.

Check the main fuse.

Check that you didn't accidentally bump the clutch switch.

checked the connection on the switch

Main fuse ?? meaning in the fuse box ?? i checked all of them in the fuse box all good.

Tip no clutch switch.

Does the car show P (park) in the display?

The main fuse is behind the rear seats carpet near the DME.

yes on P i moved it through the gears and the shifter lights work fine.

ok i will check the main fuse in few min what is DME ??

what is the fuses look like?? just a regular fuse ?

big orange fuse behind the back seat under the carpet on the driver side is good.

The cylinder that the key goes in couldn't be bad could it?

How about the alarm ?

My remotes hasn't been working for a while (alarm) ?

i put the old ignition switch back in and still nothing even with the tap under the dash.

i didnt put the light switch back in but i dont think that makes a different.

should i just get a another new switch?

the old part # is 996 347 017 06 and the new one is 996 347 017 07.

is the old part an updated part ?? (maybe it was replaced before i bought it)

and i found a wire hanging out of the fuse box what is that ?

wow it was the blue wire.

i guess car had a kill switch before and been bypassed and that ground blue wire came loose.

i feel stupid. lol

cars been down for 10 days now.
