Keyless Entry Noise

Is there a way to make your car honk or make anykind of noise when you lock or unlock your car? the lights blink but thats it.. I always get to my car after going somewhere and realize i did not lock my door, so hopefully theres a way to make it sound when i lock, any ideas?

Leave the center console open... any open zone will cause a beep.

If you leave the centre console open so that you get the honk are we sure that all other aspects of the alarm system continue to function correctly and are not disabled ????

Can you show me what center console you are talking about? Do you mean the armrest? I'm interested also.

The storage box between the seats. If you do not latch the lid you get a single beep when you set the alarm. All other entry points are armed after you set the alarm, just not the box.

I have been doing this for years. I am usually in a hurry and buy the time I push the alarm/lock button I am walking away from the car so I can't see the lights flash. So I listen for the single beep to let me know the alarm is in fact on.

Did you wait long enough? It will beep (mine does a double beep actually) about 30 seconds after you set the alarm.

I inadvertently caused a short, single honk upon locking when I changed my factory radio (2002 C4S). There is a contact arm on the left side of the radio DIN box that hits a nylon pad built into the side of the factory radio (about the size of a postage stamp.) If this contact arm is grounded by installing a replacement radio without the nylon pad, the car will chirp to let you know that something has changed.

It is easy to slide the radio out to get access to this contact ... and there may be a way you can figure out to fool the contact into thinking your radio has been removed to cause the chirp you desire (i.e., some way to easily ground it or bend it)

FWIW, I put a piece of tape on the side of my new head unit to shut the chirp off.

just found a better way to deal with this:

leave the centre console lid in open position, there's a metal spring thing on the passenger side of the 'lid catcher'. simply push that spring thing all the way in the direction towards front of the car, until it got stuck behind the plastic lining

this would disable the 'lid closure sensor' in a way, so you can fully close the lid and still get a 'horn' when remote lock the car.

I havnt experienced any trouble with this method.. so far :-) and it's totally reversible

I noticed that this only works if you leave the glove box open not the center console. Has anyone found the sensor for the glove box?

Thanks for the picture, this works great for the center console... takes about 5-10 seconds after locking for the horn to honk.

Your dealer can program the horn to beep and a couple other options. It's covered in the owner's manual.
