Plastic frame around headlight connection

Replaced driver side head light assembly and I noticed the part where the plug sits above the wheel well is broken. Sliding the headlight in place pushes the plug back and out. I looked at the parts diagrams but I can't figure out exactly what part I need. Thanks in advance.

If it is the mount the plug goes in then you either need locking clip or a whole new mounting - which ever is broken or missing (item 9 and/or 12).

Thanks. Now is this something I can install from the front or does it need to go in from behind?

I think everything can be installed from the front. Removing the wheel well liner is not hard either (less than 5 minutes).

Ok, I'll attempt this on my own then. Any tips on how to go about removing/replacing this part as well as taking out the wheel well liner?

There is a yellow clip that secures the headlight connector to the headlight mounting bracket. It is that clip that usually breaks. So when you push in the headlight it pushes the connector back and you do not make a connection. Is it the clip that is broken, or the bracket itself. Perhaps a picture.

This same thing just happened to me changing a headlight bulb in cold temps. The flanges on the blue frame thingy that locks into the holding frame just snapped off. Pretty frustrating. Thanks to both of you for identifying the problem and providing the pictures. This was a real help. I had to put the Box away for the winter with its headlight out while I track down the part(s). all the best... Rog

Hi,

I have a similar problem whereby the top of the headlight connection block is moving back and not fully connecting the headlight. My silly question is how is this connection block removed? How is the yellow clip removed? I want to remove to try and re-seat or see what's broken but can't seem to remove. Help appreciated.

This just happen to mine where the top half moves back and prevents a connection. Is there an easy fix or can I order a harness extension like the one available for the Cayenne. The part number is 955 631 239 0 for the Cayenne. Will this work for 1998 Boxster ?
