Aluminum Fuel Cap + Stainless steel Wheel bolts

Hi

First post here! Just 2 quick questions:

Has anyone fitted the aluminium fuel cap to their boxster (986)? I like the look of it, but it seems quite expensive for what it is.

The other thing I was thinking of doing was replacing the standard wheel bolts with stainless steel ones as the originals are starting to look a bit rusty. I there any reason not the do this?

It is aluminum look. The cap is plastic painted silver. I have seen 2 of them in person. Gary has one on his 996. The other was in the display case at my local dealer. Was there for a long time but someone finally bought it.

I have not seen the SS whell bolts in person, just on ebay. You can just clean yours up and paint them silver.

or you can spray paint the old ones with the wurth silver power coat paint.

Shop around and you can get it for less. Install instructions are found in the tech bulletins on this site. I like it.

The stainless steel wheel bolts on eBay are nice, if you don't mind the extra expense and no wheel lock.

The problem with painting the lug nuts is that once you take the wheels on and off a couple of times, the paint will chip and inevitably start to rust again, even with the best rust proof paint (POR-15). If you want to try the paint method, buy an expensive rubber coated (on the inside) socket and you may have better luck with the paint holding up longer.

I like the filler cap, would make spending a fortune filling the car a nicer experience.

You can also purchase black or silver lug bolt caps off eBay for $19. I've put black caps on mine and they look really nice.

A bit steep for a gas cap, plastic or aluminum. Who's else is going to see it but yourself?
