Has anyone experenced problems with the Automatic Climate Control (2000 Boxster S) not working properly? If I set the temperature to HI or Low the AC and or heater will operate. However specific settings do not seem to do anything.

Thanks for any tips.

I understand there is a temperature sensor behind the passenger side air vent that may be defective. Opened it up last weekend, looked ok. The tiny fan attached to the sensor was spinning. Still looking for the problem!!

Have you had the black foam blowing out of the vent problem? Could be the foam is all gone from the blend door.

No foam at all. AC and heater work fine, just seems like one of the temperature sensors isn't doing its job. Drove the Boxster to work today ... had to set the temp to HI to get it to push hot air out... the air was vey hot when I did that, but a I backed the temp down from 85 to 84 etc, the heat stopped.

The outside temp. sensor, build in the right air duct of the front bumper, could be the culprit. Take a look if the sensor is still in place, he can lie against the hot radiator or a short circuit in the wiring. This can happen mostly by a bumper replacement. The actual temp. values are readable also with a diagnostic tool.
