Sport Chrono or not with PDK

Am looking at a C2S on the lot with PDK but no Sport chrono. Would like some opinions on value of Sport chrono. Truthfully I dont like the clock on dash so thats good. The launch control is fun ( tried it on another car ) but think unless Im on the track (no plans to be ) this is a short term novelty.

My main concern is the value in the remapping of throttle response and shift points. And also this added adjustments of A/C lights .....?????

Is there some automatic remapping of throttle response during spirited driving ?

I guess to sum up, If im driving in Manual mode is there much difference between this and auto with sport plus button on ?

Please don't buy the car without Sport Chrono Plus. The clock is a small sacrifice for what you get in terms of throttle remapping in Sport Mode. Big difference compared to standard mode. In Sport Plus the throttle mapping doesn't change from Sport, only the gear changes in Auto. Also you will find that in many occasions it will be more efficient to use Auto mode rather than Manual and in those cases you will lose the Sport and Sport Plus transmission remapping. I've never used the LC myself because I find it a gimmick. I've used it on the test car but I don't care to use it on my car. The other functions (locks, lights etc) are also nice to have but not so crucial.

I drove both with and without when shopping for my 997. The Sport Chrono is way more fun and allows fuel mapping and suspension changes that just aren't there without it.

If you're getting a new car go with the Sport Chrono. You will be happy you did (even if you don't like the clock.)

Sport mode has no comparison with "regular" mode. The latter makes the car very docile and driveable in traffic. Sport mode takes the leash off and the car flies.

I have a 2009 Targa 4 with pdk without the sport chrono- my car was on the lot as well. The regular automatic mode is for nice leisurely driving with better gas mileage ( the car shifts to 7 gear very early). If you want to be sporty you must keep it in manual mode. If I was ordering a car with pdk, I would order it with the sport chrono- keeps the engine at 4000 rpm which you could only do with the manual mode.

The SC is important on a PDK car not for the throttle remapping but for the PDK shift remapping.

Contrary to what some said, SC is not required for suspension changes. When SC is engaged it switches PASM from Normal to Sport but that can be equally done with the PASM button. Actually, most people, when driving on regular road surfaces, switch PASM back to Normal when they engage SC Sport or Sport+

To the OP: yes, SC is a desirable option on a PDK car.

Thats exactly how I drive mine ADias, well said, that is one of the best features on the car, on my 05 that didn't have it, it was a firm ride all the time.

With the PDK in normal mode, it feels like the car is in to high of a gear, the sport button takes care of that, I still have not gone to sport plus !
