yesterday my windows went down 3 inches I can lower them but they will only go 3 inches short of top . I put my top down this morning and now it wont go up at all makes sound but only one side moves a little can anyone help? 1999 boxster

Well, your windows shouldn't go up to about 3 inches from the top with top down. Since3 you say it's straining, that's weird. Almost seems like the circutry is reversed somehow..

You can try resetting the windows by briefly disconnecting the battery. But before you do that make sure you have your radio code. And also don't worry if the car runs rough for a few minutes while it relearns the mixture adaptation parameters.

Hi 

 

I've found that not latching the convertible roof properly (The handle - latch thing sitting above the top of the windscreen between the mirrors) on my 1997 Boxster causes one window not to function when the window button is used on the centre console or the key is turned for 5 seconds in the door with the offending window. (Try unlatching and relatching the roof - make certain the roof is seated correctly in the right and left window frames) - ie the wire cable in the roof sits on the inside of the frame. I guess a dodgy microswitch in the roof latch could also cause this,, but imagine you would see a light on the dash.
