RS Flywheel

I'm considering a change to a RS single mass flywheel. Anyone with experience driving cars with the lighter, re:20 lbs, flywheel? Any drastic in town driveability issues? I know they're noisy but the ability to rev goes way up. An article in Excellence suggested a remap of the computer would be necessary to get full benefit from the change. Also to raise the rev limit to 8300 as in the RS. If you might have the P/N handy it would be appreciated.

A GT3 owner who posts on Rennlist has done this mod and seems to be happy with it. No driveability issues according to him. I don't think he did any remapping of the DME and I doubt the extra 100 rpm buys you much, the torque is already dropping off by 7800, so rev'ing it higher isn't going to get much.

The part numbers are:

964.102.239.31 flywheel

964.114.143.31 ring gear

I just made this change. There are many more parts that you need in order to assemble this correctly, look for Viper Bob's posts on Rennlist.

On the track the change is amazing! The car accelerates sooooo much faster. I don't mind the extra noises on the street, at all. Less than my full floating front discs, which sound at every expansion joint to be a wheel falling off.
