I am thinking about removing the PCM2.1 unit, bose amp, and DVD nav unit from my car. I have a 997s with Sport Chrono package and was unsure what functionality I would lose? I would think (and hope) that the sport and PASM functionality would still funtion but I would lose some of the diagnostics that show up on the PCM. Is this the case?

Thanks,

JW

I am looking to put something that is more functional than the PCM2.1 unit that came with the car. Having to use rotary knobs to select each letter and having about 2 POIs is less than ideal. Also a good prortion of the roads here are not on the map.

May I ask why you would want to remove it?

Not related to replacing the PCM, but I have a 2006 997 w/sport chrono (love it) and the one gotcha that I experience when disconnecting the car's battery is that in each case--PSM and PASM crash (usually my battery was disconnected for about an hour). The first time I almost had a coronary, but noted that after i drive the car about 20mph for a few feet all comes back normally. Maybe my car is just possessed...
