Hi first thanks for the answers to the workshop manual, I need the manual to try and find where I am getting an oil leakage from somewhere on the engine. When I have seen Porsche service they drop the engine out of the car...is that always necessary ? and how difficult is it?

The car is 4 years old any ideas on what I need to change other than spark plugs, oil filter air filter fuel filter etc. Do the gaskets need to be changed ? as I suspect this is where the oil leakage could be coming from.

Many thanks

P:S for tipronic are there additional checks or requirements

Most oil leaks can be repaired with the engine in the car. The most common exception being the RMS (Rear Main Seal). When repairing the RMS the transmission is removed and the engine is supported in place. What year and model car?

hi its a year 2000  C2 tiptronic

cheers

Most of the oil leaks were fixed by the MY2000 builds. Some common locations (besides the RMS) are valve cover gaskets and cam sensors. You need to have a look at where the oil is dripping down at.

Not to hijack the thread fazzyb, but I too have a leak I would like to see if anybody can identify...

Any idea what kind of leak this could be?

The photo was taken while I was changing the oil yesterday so please ignore the obvious dripping and splash marks.

I am referring to the soiled area near the corner.

Hi all

I had a good long look to try and identify where my oil leak is coming from and one guess is that its coming from the oil sensor switch as on the cable there is quite much oil. This would suggest that the leak comes when the engine is running and then gets sprayed all over the place making it difficult to identify where the leak comes from. Is it common for oil to leak from the sensor ?

I don't think you could call it common but I know of at least two other cases of faulty (leaking) oil senders.
