I'd like to use one of the blanks to the left of my radio, below the PSM switch, for my garage door opener. Does anyone know a part number for a switch that fits there; it needs to be a momentary contact type switch that keeps the circuit completed only as long as you hold it down.

Have a look at this thread

That is a good thread, but it's not what I need. I am looking for a part number for a switch that will mount below the PSM switch to the left of the radio. That thread uses a different mounting location and it does not provide a part number for the switch (at least I did not see one). Would the same switch work in a different location?

Here is a whole bunch of information on switches/pictures/part numbers gloss/flat and some internal wiring diagrams (necessary if you want to use factory backlighting):

Wiring Diagram TT Spoiler

Somewhere, I have the P/N for the factory (Porsche/Audi/VW) sockets that the switches plug into if you want to make your own fancy wiring harness, but you can just use standard female tab connectors.

P.S. The switches are all momentary and will physically fit/interchange althought the internal wiring differs (see links above).

Sounds great - thank you for the help. The site is down but I will check it out as soon as it is back up. Does that site list the part numbers?

I used the thread that Loren linked to...

Since I have a cab and use all four slots for the windows I put the same (door lock/unlock) switch in the spot that you are wanting to use -- where the PSM goes. Mine works great and is actually much easier to access by just popping off the upper console. There is plenty of room behind there for the garage door opener to fit.

Let me know if you have any questions...

Yes, did the deed last night in 30 minutes. Hardest part was soldering the wires to the opener's circuit board. Now if I could just figure out how to get it to illuminate with the lights on... Thanks to all for the comments and links, and I made a contribution to Renntech to show my appreciation.
