Finally had the chance to tow the boat this past weekend. I have an 06 Cayenne new to me and it towed like a dream. Much better than my Father in Laws F150.

As I was towing, the check trailer lights came on. I pulled over and all the lights were working properly. I double checked my connections and everything seemed to be in place. The check engine light continued to pop up and kept chiming. Anyone experience this before? If so, please let me know what I need to do to correct this issue.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

What kind of lights on the trailer LED ? if so just deal with the message if not further investigation required, fault codes will be present.

The trailer system is the subject of many posts on all Cayenne boards. It works great, but is very sensitive to things it should not be, like light load.

Dont forget to tow in manual and do not use 6th speed as it will put to much strain on the transmission

Yes, they are LED lights. Are those an issue with the Cayenne. Also, can you expand on towing in manual mode?

Switch to TIP, pull the stick to the left and manually select gears either on the wheel or the stick itself based on normal stick rules, do not select 6

I ran into this with my trailer too (which has LED lights). They sell a special trailer lighting adapter for trailers with LED lights. I got the one below and the error went away.
