I am in the process of finalizing an aftermarket head unit install. I am aware of the brown/blue wire and what is required to stop the horn from honking upon alarm activation. I personally like the audio cue that the alarm is armed and have not found any other posts describing any concern that I am not willing to live with (e.g., I am concerned that I will leave my trunk open). Is there any other major cocnern (an eventual need to clear fault codes, alarm will not be fully armed, etc.) of which I should be aware prior to just leaving it to honk? Many thanks in advance for your replies -

I was not aware that there was a way to get the alarm to honk on activation. Any insights would be appreciated!

whenever there is a fault in the alarm system it will give the honk. Some folks prefer this and will purposely leave a sensor open (like the center console lid). of course if there are multiple faults you won't know unless you get the codes read.

I have been trying to finish the install and have been away from the PC. By removing the stock Becker head unit, my alarm system now thinks that the center console has been tampered with, but is due to the sensor wire no longer being connected to the Becker head unit. You can accomplish the same affect by leaving your center console ajar as previously suggested -
