I have a 2005 cayenne v6. I am wondering what that thing is called next to my automatic shifter. I believe it controls drive if you are in rough terrain or smooth roads. Any help is much appreciated

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new motor. There is a switch for the range selection... is that what you are on about? It's to the lower left of the shifter. It's recommended to purchase the owners manual, the Cayenne is loaded with many neat features.

I am a noob also and totally agree that a manual is invaluable, lots of cool features.

I had to read the manual in order to figure out that the vehicle must be in neutral in order to change settings. Hope this helps.
