I recently purchased an 06 and so far I am thrilled with the Cayenne. I will be doing some light towing with my truck and to my surprise, there was no wiring harness next to the hitch. A few questions for you guys:

Is this something I can do myself or should I take it in to the dealership?

If it's something I can do myself, are there any aftermarket products?

Any tips on installation would be appreciated.

To the left of the hitch receiver and up a bit you should see a blank plate a few inches square held in by a few screws. If the hitch is factory installed then that harness should be there, it just needs the connector attached. If your hitch is after-market then that's another story.

Thank you for the feedback. I did just that today and purchased the connectors from my local dealer. Total cost for the 2 connectors was $65. Pretty easy project but I had a stripped screw so it took some convincing and brut force to take the screws out. Once everything was connected, I turned the car on and it had the ! light on my dash along with all my interior lights.. I turned the car off and turned on again and everything turned off including the ! light.
