Hi All. Was hoping to get some help on my rear spoiler issue. When using dash control or when driving to proper extending speed the spoiler does not raise and I get the fault "Spoiler Control Failed" on dash. I have replaced the fuse and still have the same issue. Just bought the car so I'm light on funds so any help or tips would be amazingly appreciated!

This is a well-known issue. On my MY 2000 Turbo, I had to change the wing's micromotors quite early, I think at the end of 2001 or early 2002. Since then, no issue. Contact your dealer, they should know.

First of all you once you get a spoiler message you need Durametric or PIWIS to reset and check the operation again. After reset, you have to found out if the pump is working just by listening while operating the toggle switch. The pump location is show on the drawing and the switches are located on the right hand actuator under a small plastic cover. Sometimes (it was my case) the switches just pop out of is recess and need to be push back in. But, remember as soon the fault comes back on you need to used Durametric , select "Instrument cluster" and erase the "spoiler fault" Check also for a leak around the actuators. It is not easy to fill or bleed but there is a lot of discussion about that :

Where are you located (city)?

Perhaps someone can help you out if they are near.

Anyone know of a trustworthy tech or someone that has a Durametric that I can use in my area? I'm in Anaheim, CA. Thanks.

Weird thing happened the other day. Taking my '04 Turbo Cab to get smog checked and the light came on while I was on the highway... It appeared to be in the up position (hard to tell from the cockpit) and I actuated it via the switch with no issue. When I slowed down the spoiler went down so Ok there... Pulled up to the repair shop and turned the ignition off then on again and the light cleared. Any ideas? Just a Hiccup?

Thanks

I had the same issue. The pump is actually a pretty simple design, just pushes a rod through this plastic type block inside the metal housing unit which pumps the fluid into the Rams and raises the spoiler. The block often times can break which will cause the pump to sound like it is working, but the rod is just pushing through the broken plastic block with no resistance. If the pump sounds like it is actuating when you hit the button to raise the spoiler, I would say that the issue might well be inside the pump. Especially if you don't really have any fluid leaking from the hydraulic lines that connect to the Rams that raise the spoiler. If it is the switches, its pretty cheap. If its the pump, I would say either get one used from a salvage dealer or eBay, or you can try to take it to a local hydraulic shop to see if they can help you repair it. Good luck!
