In my search for a new car I have run into 997 P cars with the PCCB brakes. How long do they last with nomal street driving?

As long as you own the car!

Joking aside I don't know of anyone 'wearing out' a set of PCCB's in normal street driving. Sure if you track frequently and/or participate in a lot of aggressive driving (and braking) then PCCB's might not be the brake system for your soley due to the cost to repad and replace rotors. Iron rotors and regular pads are a lot less expensive.

I've got about 18K miles on my PCCBs and they look like new. I've heard of other guys w/ over 40K miles and no wear to speak of.

If you chip or crack a rotor it will be expensive to replace.

Inspect the rotors for chips, cracks, etc. if you're buying a PCCB equipped car.

I've got 37K+ on my originals, and the rotors are still within minimums with a little less than 50% pad life left. I've got two 50 lb boxes of new rotors and pads from Sunset Imports sitting in my living room (I'm no longer married!), so I might have the rotors replaced with the next pad change--likely with the next oil and filter change in about 3000 miles. And yes, I'm kinda hard on my brakes!

Well, that's a good question. I thought all 'S' brakes (with red calipers and oversize rotors) were PCCB's, but maybe not. Those boxes of brake parts seem awfully heavy for light weight PCCB's! I'll check my order from Sunset. Good call!

PCCB have yellow capilers, not red. If you paid Sunset over $8K for those two 50 pounds boxes, then they are PCCB's. Most likely you had steel for about $1K.

PCCB pads are just slightly more than steel (approx. 30%). It's the rotors that kill ya! They are over $4k each to replace.
