I took my 2000 Boxster in to the dealer because the Airbag light was on. The dealer told me i would need to replace the belt buckle and wiring kit. The estimate for the repairs was $377. I decided not to do the repairs and asked him to reset the light. He reset it so the airbag light went off. This past weekend i was working on a horn problem and now the light is back on. Is thier a way to reset it to turn the light off without having to pay the dealer $60 to hook up the machine? Any help with be appreciated.

Sorry, but you need to fix the problem and then have the airbag reset.

If you order the buckles and do the under seat soldering you can save a bunch of money. Many folks here have done it (try our search).

Whenever you remove the steering wheel or either seat you should always disconnect the battery first AND keep the key out of the ignition.

When the key is in the ignition (even off) the airbag circuit is armed.

If part of your fix involves having to replace the buckle - the receptacle end - I have a driver and a passenger side on that came off my 2004 986S. New ones look pricey. Mine are in good shape and priced right! PM me if interested.

My airbag light is on and I am considering just taking the LED out of the socket. Any problem with this other than you might not know your airbag has an actual problem and die in a wreck?

Don't you think it would be wise to find out why it is on?

It is a simple task using the Durametric Software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester.
