This has turned into a bigger repair than I bargined for. Your help would be appreciated. I wanted to replace my carpet. TO do that I had to remove the gas pedal (non e-gas). I broke a few of the plastic parts on the pedal which I think I have repaired.

When reinstalling it, I noticed that the cruise control cable seemed really slack (4 inches of extra cable). When I took the pedal out I recall that the cable was rather taught. So I traced the cable back to the actuator, the cable fits into a black tube which twists off. Inside I found a brass colored tube that the cable fits into. It was hard to see but it looked like a stopper at the end of the cable was keeping it inside the tube but it wasn't attached to anything.

The actuator seems snuggled away behind the dash, next to the clutch pedal, above the AC conduit. My question is how do you get at and repair/replace the actuator? Thanks in advance for any help.

I got some help through private message. You have to remove the air conditioning conduit. On the unit you loosen 3 bolts and slide the unit out of the clutch support bracket. The cable is inserted into a brass looking tube covered by a plastic sleeve. You rotate the sleeve to get it to disengage from the control housing and then remove it. The cable comes out of the tube by pulling it out the side.
