Folks,

I recently bought a red clip for my 02 Boxster that I learned that will activate the infrared red sensor during the top is open. I did a test by sitting inside the driver seat while the alarm is armed with the red clip is in place, half of the time, the alarm won't go off regardless how i move around. Does anyone know why ? Is their a procedure that i have missed ?

exit the vehichle,

close the door,

arm it,

wait a few seconds,

then stick your hand in there see what happens.

what is this 'red clip' I always arm my 04 facelift and alarm has never gone off, but then again i have not tried to activate it.

Anyone got a pic or link ?

You dont need the clip, If you lean over when you lock the car and press with your fingers the microwitches, press the lock button and the sensors remain armed

So when i am locking the car with roof down i am not arming the microwave sensor ? Are you saying i need to also press a switch ?

Where is this switch ???

EDIT - Just checked my manual and it states it's an infrared not microwave sensor and that it is always disabled when roof down ?

Bilabonic - spot on - roof down and lock - no interior sensors.

Where the roof catch locks in just above the interior miror are two microswitches, simply lean over- press them in then hold whilst you lock the car - sensors will then be active
