2000 C4..

The sunroof is stuck slightly open. Press the switch...I can hear the motor turning but the roof will not move. Are there internal gears in the motor itself that could go bad? Is this a common problem? DIY possible? How?

If U can hear the motor turing , at least your relay+motor is OK.

The sunroof motor drives two cables that move the roof forwards and backwards in a track.

Most likely its the broken cable or the gear drive teeth wearing out.

Check for a broken cable.

Sunroof panel can be removed, slide it backwords first.

Yes U can move it manually in emergency mode.

Each part can be ordered, even a gear drive.
