Oil leak from distributor

Greetings, My problem is oil migrating up the dist shaft into the dist housing and leaking from the holes in the base of the housing. I took the dist out turned it upside down and oil ran out. The oil drips down the cam chain cover giving the indication of a leak from the cover. Is there a seal of some sort around the shaft to prevent the oil from coming up the shaft? Dist # 90160202700 Bosch.

Is the o-ring on the distributor shaft missing?

Check the dist. shaft for wear also as this can cause oil to migrate into the housing.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes the O ring is there. That area is bone dry. The oil is coming up the shaft into the dist. I'm going to take it apart today and see what's inside. The parts book seems to show two bushings and some other unidentified part between them.

There is nothing between the bushings in the housing but in some Bosch Dist there is a radial seal on the upper end of the housing.
