Removing strut tower plastic cover

I have tried to remove the plastic that covers the strut towers in the front of the car but the screw just keeps on spining. Nothing is holding the piece that the screw screws in to.

?? This is very annoying, what the secret?

The torx screw goes into a rubber well nut and the rubber is supposed to be tight enough in it's hole so it will not spin, but they do spin when they get old and if the screw has been tightened too much. I you look at your amp or cd changer the bolts that hold them in place also go into rubber well nuts and we have the same problem with them.

To keep it from spinning while you are trying to remove the screw press hard with you fingers on the plastic cover right next to the washer under the screw head. That should keep the well nut from spinning.

When I put those torx screws back I just snug them up - do not even try to tighten them. Jeff
