Hi,

What are the mounting points of an engine protection plate for a 996?

and what type of screws are needed.

Thanks

If it is the OEM Porsche part it bolts on to existing fasteners. These bolts hold plumbing etc. There are four fastening points. When you place the plate under the engine (and see how it orients) it is self explatory which bolts to use. Take you about 5 minutes tops...

the rear fastening point doesn't seem to align to any bolt, do I need to make a bracket for that?

There is rear no mount point on late 3.4 liter and all 3.6 liter engines.

No they were designed for the early 3.4 liter engines that actually had some bolts that protruded down. Folks would catch them on a curb or something and then rip a hole in the case.

The later engines fixed that problem and unless you go "offroad" or back into curbs most folks don't need the plates (IMHO of course).

I have a 99 3.4l, It wont rattle if I leave it unbolted?

I thought since I am lowering the car, I would be good to have one of these.

And I find I have to remove it every time I change the oil or it pools on top of the plate

making a mess.
