TIP Problem

Last night when I started up the knob on the TIP shifter would not depress so I could not select D or anything else. After locking the wheel then unlocking and starting engine, the knob depressed and I was able to drive to town. Same thing happened when I tried to engage D after starting up only this time the locking of the wheel and subsequent restart did nothing. Knob was still locked solid. Came back to car after a few minutes, started and knob depressed and I drove home. Any ideas on this one?

Sounds like something is almost worn out on the

tip locking brake mech.

Do you use your parking brake? I used to not use mine and I noticed when parking on a incline/decline, when shifting out of park there was a slight tugging sensation before it would shift out of park, the tugging sensation was a lot harder the steeper the incline. Not the case when I use my parking brake, so now I always use it.

Make sure the brake lights are working. The brake light switch can become intermittent.

... or the small magnet on the Tip shifter fell off and jammed in the mechanism.
