I only notice it when washing the car, and it has not fallen out yet, but the entire vent assembly is loose inside the body.

Anyone know if this can be tightened, or do I possibly have something broken in there?

Thanks in advance.

it is just held by one screw on top. you're probably missing the screw...otherwise, if the screw is still there then I wouldn't worry about it falling off

My drivers side seems loose also. are you talking the housing or the black vents inside? I was refering to the housing. My passenger side seems pretty snug. it fits better for some reason.

Looks like part 4 snaps into part 6.

Here is a picture.

Paul

I think he is asking about the air intake and purge air vents on the outside of the Boxster.

The vent grills are held in place to the painted vent housing via three plastic arms. One or more of these arms could have snapped if someone tried to remove the vent housing to desnork the intake, for example. They commonly break when the housing is removed. The good news is that those vent grills are really cheap to replace, and you can order them from the dealer. The painted portion of the vent housing comes off by way of a single screw on the top of the housing, but you have to loosen the 3 arms of the vent grills from their connections before you can fully pull out the painted vent housing. Once the grills are loose (and it sounds like they are already), you can just unscrew the top screw of the vent housing and then lift it up and out.

I'm talking about the housing. If it's your black vents, then remove the housing and see if it broke. If it's not broken, then put it back in place. It has three holder where you just slide it into place...can you take a photo so we can see? thanks

I see, you're talking about the black vents. If it's loose, then don't worry about it falling off. It won't. Just remove the housing, re-seat the black vents, that's it.
