Hi loren,

I replaced all 6 spark plugs and complete ignition coils! the car still starts up and sputters and the motor shakes quite a bit, but the check engine light is now gone. Sometimes the motor only turns over when you either hold the key longer than normal during start up or giving it gast while starting. I noticed that the new coils have a 997 part number. I doulbe checked and dealer said that all 996's use the 997's now. I also wanted to let you know that on the driver side coils had a good amount of oil resedue on them. Could this be the MAF sensor, oxygen sensor, cats? Porsche tech said to try and switch both the plugs and coils on opposite sides, I thought they were all the same? Have you or anyone heard or know the reasoning behind this? Thanks

oil on the coils and after removing the coil the are signs of oil around the black ring

Yes, if there is oil on the coils then you likely need to replace the oil tubes and o-rings.

Loren, what oil tubes are you talking about, took the spark plugs back out today and the tips and sides were covered in oil! also I only get one code now and that is the P0300, P0303 no longer comes up. Thanks
