O2 Sensor "Slow to respond"

My 2000 911 check engine light came on and the diagnosis with a friend's tool pinpointed it to the left side O2 sensor after the catalytic converter with the message "Bank 1 sensor 2 slow to respond"

Am I correct that this is the sensor after the catalytic for exhaust coming out of the left cylinder bank as one looks at the rear of the car?

Reading the forum I then cleaned the connections in the engine compartment properly with contact cleaner but the message still appears intermitently.

Can anyone advise me whether this now means the sensor needs to be replaced? Or should I be looking to non sensor causes?

If it is the sensor can anyone recommend where I should source one from in the USA. Local price in Canada is OVER $US 300 while one I found at Autohaus was $99. (But I am not sure if it is the right one).

If I install a new sensor, do I use any never-seize on the threads before I screw it in?

I am envious of the great prices our American friends get!

P0139 Aging of Oxygen Sensor After TWC, Bank 1

Possible causes:

- bad oxygen sensor

Erase the fault - if it comes back replace the sensor.

How would you erase the fault like on a 1999 Carrera 2?

The best way to erase fault codes is to use a scan tool. There should be option to clear codes on the scan tool.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery for a few seconds and reconnect. Code is gone. Make sure you have your radio code.

Does this work for all fault codes?

Engine/emissions - yes.

But, if the problem that caused the fault to occur is not fixed then the CEL (and fault) will come back.
