Re setting Tip Memmory

No. I thought the Tiptronic memory could be re set and I'd like to do that.

It might reset with a battery disconnect for 5 minutes or so.

If not you will need a PST2 or PIWIS tester to reprogram the default program into the Tip.

Loren is correct about the battery disconnect. When I replaced my battery it was out for about that much time and the Tiptronic went back to the default program and definitely shifted different. It re-learned my driving style pretty quickly though. Its kind of a cool feature. I think it contantly "learns" though because even now if i drive it hard for a while; it will shift at a higher RPM for a while until even if i chill out and then after a while of normal driving it will start shifting at a lower rpm, etc.

Don't forget your radio code if you decide to try the battery disonnect method.

Dis-connecting the battery for 5 minutes is a good way

to start with a new car again. You will then

teach the car.

May I ask why you are trying to reset the memory? Are you having a problem with the transaxle?

It "bangs" the shift between 2-3 allot. It's not bad, just not what I'm used to. Is there anything I can check? I had the service done at 90K, it's now at 120K.

If the fluid level is correct and no codes in the system then I would check the condition of all the engine/transmission mounts.

I assume that service means new fluid and a new transmission filter.

Might want to look at who did the work. There is a story

in the 996 section for doing this work.

You need to get the car on a lift and run it thru the gears

while you are filling it.

I bet you have air in the tip where you want fluid.
