Triptonic

This just started happening the other day and ideas? When in auto the car shifted a little hard from 2nd to 3rd then a harder shift into 4th where it stays, the park and 4th gear light on the dash flashes back in forth and check engine light comes on. When car is re started it will go back to normal with the check engine light off then it starts doing the same thing again. Thanks for your input. See sig. for car details.

Issues like this have come up; i've searched this forum, there is the same common answers but no real resolution that I've ever seen.

Basically what everyone says is to read the Tiptronic history/fault codes using a durametric tool or PST2 or PWIS tool.

You could also do a transmission oil and filter change which might help as well. There might be a switch or relay or solenoid of some sort that is sticking/not working properly.

Please post your fix when/if you figure it out. I am experiencing an issue where downshifts from 3rd-2nd are occassionally harsh, and I will post my fix when i figure it out - maybe it will help you figure out yours.

Good Luck!

If the Tiptronic light is flashing then you have one (or more) faults.

You need the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester to read the Tiptronic faults.

Taking it to the dealership service dept. this week and will post the results. I quess what I'm trying to find out for the experts here is what could be the possible issue.

Tool Pants/Loren any ideas?

About the same thing happened to me a few weeks back, and ended up that the alternator died. Do any other lights on the dash flick on, or just the Check Engine light?

Fault code P0717.

FIX

Dealer replaced the inductive transmitter (sensor on valve body) and checked the wiring harness for breaks.

Here is what was on the service invoice for all the pros:

-P0717 - GEAR SEL MONITER

TRANS INPUT SPEED - AS PER DAI MANUAL CKED THE FLUID OK - OKED TO DO SOM COT - R+R THE TRANS CU AND AUMED OUT TO THE SENSOR HAS 123M OHM SPECS 125 OHMS

REMOVED THE LOWER LINK ARMS AND OHMED IN THE TRANS STILL HAS 123M OHM, IT IS EITHER HARNESS IN THE TRANS OR THE SENSORS - ORDERED PARTS - R+R THE TRANS PANTHE VALVE BODY AND OHMED THE SENSOR 123M OHMS, PUT NEW SENSOR IN AND IT WAS 125 OHMS - CONNECTED HARNESS AND OHMED AGAIN, ALL OK - REINSTALLED THE VALVE BODY AND PAN AND FILLED WITH OIL - EREASED FAULT CODES

Wow 1k repair and the sensor was only $145.00....
