Is their any truth to the stated fact that Porsche changed the mounting flange on the 3.2 engine to remedy the RMS/IMS problem beginning 'in the model year 2006? Ive seen this on both this web site

and others forums but fail to find any documentation from Porsche to support this claim. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thx Bob

Porsche's ONLY real remedy for the IMS failure issue was to remove the intermediate shaft completely from the 2010 engine; otherwise al M96 engines are at some level of risk for IMS failure.................

To my knowledge all 2006 + engines had the new design. Am I incorrect?

Only a "new" design for the IMS bearing and support stud. The new 2010 engines now have no IMS at all.

Only time will tell if the new is better than the old.

One thing is for certain, Porsche won't.

Regards, Maurice.

Thanks for clarifying Maurice. Seems very sad that out of all the luxury sports cars that Porsche is the only one plauged with "engine failure"in a stock engine. Seems rediculous and I'm really supreised I haven't seen a TV commercial that states "Have you or loved one had a M96 engine explode out of warranty? "Are you aware that Porsche knew about these design flaws for years and did nothing about them? If you or a loved one have a M96 that blew up for no apparent reason you may have rights to compensation." :D  :D

Find me a jury that is going to feel sorry for a Porsche owner in a class action lawsuit. Not going to happen.

ALL luxury sports cars have/had problem(s). There is no such thing as a perfect car. Although, mine is pretty close! :)
