I was planning to put in a '03 4S wiring harness, into a '00 C4 car and ECU. It indicates that there is only one type wiring harness for a 996 (partnumber 996 612 905 00), which I know for a fact is not right . A '99 middle chassis wiring harness for instance, doesnt fit a '00 because of the different connection to the ECU. My question is: does someone know if a 03 4S's wiring harness fits my '00 C4. Thanks in advance! Martijn

Other than the short wiring harness extensions - every car gets a custom wiring harness from the factory that is dependent on the car's options.

But as far as the ECU, and the connection to the engine harness is concerned, they should be compatible?

No - MY2000 was DME 7.2 (prior to VarioCan Plus) and MY04 DME 7.8 with VarioCam Plus.

I am sorry I was not really clear, but i meant; as far as the connection of the wiring harness to the ECU (not the ECU itself), would that connection be the same for a '00 and a '03 ? In other words, if I would connect the 03 harness to the 00 ECU, would that be compatible? Or did I misunderstand your answer?

DME 7.2 (your MY00) has 40 pins on connector 4 -- and a DME7.8 (MY03 harness) has 48 pins on connector 4 (D).

So they will not match up in number of pins for the connector. Sorry.
