thoughts about these replacement wheels?

hi guys, have to replace my current C2 wheels after a brief interaction with a stiff corner ;)

was thinking about a set of black turbo twist wheels on a red C2. don't really see these wheels in black very often on 996s. i've seen some on boxsters those that look really cool.

was wondering what my fellow brethren thought though before making the purchase.

these are the wheels that are on it now; however, the two good wheels that are left have some curb rash and scratches.

thoughts? worth the change to the new wheel/color?

i like your current rims much better than the turbo twist. If you do want to get these turbo twist rims...obviously make sure they are the right size. I think you have 19's right? I thought the turbo twist rims were usually 17,18 only

Perhaps you can have your current rims repaired (they are very sweet) instead of replacing them...If it's just curb rash and paint that is an easy fix for a competent wheel repairer. Unless you just want new rims.....

Wheels seem to be pretty inexpensive at the moment.

I just picked up a set of turbo twists (not replicas) 8x18 and 10x18 for $400. They have rash, but as phillipj suggests, repairs on rash are pretty easy. I did a set of turbo twists off a wreck about a year ago - bondo, sandpaper, primer, paint, polish and elbow grease - they came out great.

and i never ever buy or sell any wheels that have been redone. it's never the same as new. how do you think those rashes are treated? it's not magic. material is removed.

and the reason why you don't see a lot of black turbo twist wheels and pink 911s has more to do with a lot of people don't like it than it's super expensive or rare or hard to do.

Should not be an issue with the twists. The only 'material' affected is the coating. I had all four of mine refinished. The process is not particularly invasive.

Are you saying that if you got curb rash on your wheel(s) you would replace them???????? I can understand if they are bent but not scraped.

As long as the damage is superficial some sanding, new paint and clear coat will not effect the integrity of the wheel.

yes before you internet freaks jump on my bones, i made no reference to the structural integrity and unicorn horn dust properties of refinished wheels. the wheels i run, you can't refinish them anyways without showing marks. factory wheels, whatever.

but i just don't like refinished wheels, period. that's why my parking skills suck. i'm at least a foot away from the curb. i actually rubbed thru the clearcoat on one of my aftermarket wheels (size of a pinky nail) recently on the lip part... and ordered a new replacement next day and the old one sits in my place as decoration.

yes, i am a bacheor in no hurry to have a COO. :D
