Louder Horn

I have a 09 Cayenne GTS and the horn on it sucks... It has a wimpy sound. Can the horn be replaced for something louder, better sounding, powerful horn?

I’m not looking for a truck, semi air horn or anything like that just something that gives the Cayenne a better image when used. Do other Porsches vehicles have a loud strong horn I can use to swap out the cheese one it has stock?

I bought the Griots Ultra compact air horn - $39.95 (as I recall). http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+ac...vals&page=1

There is a horn at the front left and front right in the area of the fog lights. You can get to them by removing the wheel well liners.

Maybe twice as loud as normal. If you are standing right in front of the car it is very loud - 10-20 feet away in the next lane it is not.

Will the wiring on my Cayenne support this new horn? Do I just cut off the connector and connect the 2 wires.

You will need to remove one original horn and replace it with the air horn. Yes, pretty easy +12 volts to +12 volts and ground to ground.

You can either remove the second horn or leave it in place. If you remove it be sure to tape up the connector well.

If there are two horns in the car is it reasonable to assume there is a low and a high tone horn. If so maybe the low tone is out.

Sure sounds effeminate from my perspective when I use it...

This is exactly the case. I had this same issue and the 2nd, lower (more manly) tone horn was out. Nice, loud and effective again after an OEM replacement. If it happens again though I think I will go with the airhorn. I would do both. Never use the horn unless you mean it. :)
