Wind Deflector Flaps in Breeze

I've just become the proud owner of a 2001 986. It came with the wind deflector fitted. Once I got it home I noticed that the centre clip at the bottom did not hold the perspex panel in place. It just pushes the panel to the rear. It is held in place only by the two clips, one on each headrest. The bottom clip does not appear to be broken, but I can't figure out if my panel is just fitted wrong or if I need a new centre clip.

I've searched RennTech and other forums, googled images, but I can't see how the bottom clip works.

Am I stoopid, or is my clip broken?

Your window goes on the other side of the bottom clip. It takes a little persuasion to coax it into place.

If you get a little rattle -- I put some foam tape around the pins that fit into the upper clips,

and a very little strip on the bottom clip.

Yep, you need the window on the other side of that stop.

I don't think Porsche really thought the whole 3 piece wind stop system through. My deflector recently wound up in my passengers lap after 9 years. at the price, it will stay in the trunk till I find a solution. There are a lot of people also who use black zip-ties to keep the headrest windscreens safe, myself included. Loosing one(you never know when or where, they just disappear) is a pricey, thrilless proposition.

The black frame is not to go on either side of the "clip." There is a notch in the bottom of the frame that is to be put directly over top the raised portion of the clip (shown in your photo). First, from the back side of the roll hoops, center the frame over that raised portion; there should be no real effort necessary to do so. Then carefully engage the clips on the roll hoops. At least that's how it is on my 2003.

Gentlemen, thank you. When I knew it was supposed to go on the other side, I was confident enough to give it the force necessary to seat it. It was as stiff as a sixteen year old in a sorority.

i used a little paper in the one clip at the top, worked like a charm
