Hi guys,

today I installed a pioneer headunit into my 97 RHD boxster and after putting it in and taking it out a few times I am finally happy with its mounting position. Only problem is, suddenly I have lost half of my interior control.... I've lost:

*central locking (through switch on dash, alarm remote and through the key in the door)

*demister switch is not working

*All interior lights not working (as in both boots and the cabin light)

*Window control (they will go down that little bit if I open the door, but not back up again. Neither switch is working in either direction either)

I have checked all related fuses and there are no problems. I think it may be related to the left hand side switches next to the head unit, although the top controll button is still working (although not illuminating) and the cigarette lighter works and illuminates. The other switches there are not illuminating and are not working (which I think may be affecting the others)

Can anyone suggest something to look at? I cant drive the car like this as the windows are stuck a bit of the way down....

Thanks in advance,

Sam

dealing with the same issue. Window does not roll down or up, unable to pull the hood and rear trunk, seems its stuck...not really sure what's causing it...I'm taking it to the dealership next week. I remember disconnecting the negative battery cable when I remove the passenger air bag. anyone knows how to fix this problem? thanks

Problem fixed - turned out to be a fuse after all, just not the one I was expecting. It was one labelled "Control X 87" or something like that. All working again now :)

Will try to mate - do you have the fuse cover that lists them all though? Or just do what I did in frustration, go through everyfuse till you find a blown one!

I don't have the fuse cover...probably do what you did and go through every fuse until I find the bad one :( ...that's how I learned fixing the issues with my Boxster..and of course with the help fo the Renntech.org forum :renntech: , it made it easier for me to find and fix the problem...thanks

Sam,

I found the two blown fuses. I replaced them and my windows worked!!! I just bought the fuse kit with a tester and tested every single one. Thanks

Glad to hear mate - heart has stopped sinking and has a sense of boxster pride again!

yep! I know what you mean...the first thing in mind is $$$$$$ and lots of them to give away to the dealership...made a mistake buying an oil filter and 10 quarts of oils with them two weeks ago...never again..I thought I was going to spend $$$ again just to replace the fuse. I wonder how much would they charge just to replace them. hhhmmmm. Two years ago, they did an oil change and it took them 3 hours to complete. I paid $215.00.
