Hi,

I have a 2005 997-1 Carrera 2S with Sport Chrono package. 51,000 miles.

I live in Tampa. This morning I was on the way to the airport and the check engine light came on after about 3 miles. As soon as I took my foot off of the accelerator the engine died. I was able to restart the engine while in neutral but it continued to stall everytime I let off of the accelerator.

I turned around and drove the car back home. Still had the same issues until I got near the house. By the time I drove in the garage the car stayed cranked.

I did notice that when I first started the car that it had a rough idle at 8000 RPM.

I won't be able to post the engine codes until I get back home on Saturday but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

Thanks so much for your help!!

Boy, it seems the '05's have had their share of little problems! Mine had everything from a CEL warning to a floppy rear-view mirror, but fortunately the local dealer took care of all that stuff, while it was still under what was left of the warranty.

Just be patient and get all the little gremlins fixed. And don't be afraid to drive it HARD (and change the oil and filter around every 7500 miles); it's a terrific car! Oh, and I like those wheels!

Cheers,

Once you get the PWIS or Durametric hookup you find out what fault code is registered so you can determine the actual problem. Is the gas cap on tight?

You mentioned a "rough idle at 8000 rpm". I'm sure you meant 800 rpm. If you idle at 8000 rpm I think more than a CEL would occur. (lol)

Keep us posted regarding the problem. I suspect it something simple; ie. sensor bad, etc.

Sounds like your maf is fouled or has gone bad or maybe that tube that leads from the intake to the throttle body has come loose - that's happened to me before and the issues I experienced were similar to yours.

Good Luck
