Hi there!

I'm going to remove the driver's door panel in order to get access to the door lock, which needs to get replaced (told so by authentic Porsche dealer) because the car always "sees"/identifies the door as closed, even though it's open. I already have a new lock, part number 955 531 015 07.

Has anyone removed the door panel and/or opened up the driver's door? What about replacing the door lock?

I'm asking because I don't want to go into a rush and maybe break some plastic objects or bend something etc. Any advices, pictures or drawings/diagrams/blueprints?

Well removing the door panel is the easy part. The real issue is in order to replace the door lock you have to remove the inner door frame, which is a real PITA to get back in and adjusted correctly so the door opens and closes smoothly. This is one repair I would pay for someone else to do.

Agree with PTEC, there is even more, if the instructions in the manual, concerning the exact door lock possition and handling, are not exactly implemented, there is a possibility that the door will no longer open. :o

Thanks for the replies. However, the Porsche dealer told me that for a handy man this could be manageable, was hoping not going the a workshop. A friend of mine who works at a VW workshop and has replaced similar locks in a Touareg will help me, hope the process doesn't differ so much in the Cayenne.

Is the routine covered in the TSBs (access by becoming a contributing member) or the Porsche Workshop Manual (from Porschelibrarian)?

Any help is much appreciated, I don't want to hurt my baby.
