Pads and Rotors Price Comaprison

Hey guys,

So I just called over to Sunset Imports to get a price idea on what it would cost to replace all 4 rotors and front and rear pads for my 00 Boxster S.

Curious if this is pretty much the same pricing and replacement across the board, and just wanting to make sure the quote they gave me and the replacement parts are all necessary.

He said for the Front and Rear, the techs their recommend also replacing the caliper bolts, pad dampners, the spring kit.

Said the Front Rotors with new bolts, dampners, springs, pads, came to $517.09

The Rear Rotors with new bolts, dampners, springs, pads came to $445.12

He also said that if my brake indicator light wasn't going off (which it isn't) that I can probably re-use the sensors without any problems and don't need to replace them.

Total Quote: $962.21

Does that seem about right?

Prices might have gone up a bit.

I paid around $660 if I remember right, a year ago or so from Sunset (great place BTW).

edit: one big factor, I have a base Boxster not an "S". That could be the difference.

sounds about right to me. Depends on what pads you are getting and who makes the rotors. It sounds like a good deal to me. I know I was quoted about $220 a rotor by a company who OEMS for porsche. It sounds like a pretty good deal. I have a 996 C2 so I am not sure if your rotors might be cheaper. I believe they are the same cross drilled rotors as mine though

I was quoted $1600 for all pads, rotors, parts and labor by one dealer for my '02 base Boxster. I didn't take them up on that offer...

The second dealer in town wanted $1200 for the entire job and offered a 15% discount to make the job $1080 total.

Sunset has about the best prices on Porsche parts that I've noticed after owning Porsches since 1997. You can't beat them for factory part prices on most items.

It depends a lot on the choices you made. Drilled rotors??

I did the fronts on my non-S with parts form the same guys and Brembo rotors, stock Porsche pads hardware and bolts were $383 to my door a few months ago. Wow...those Ss get expensive!

I'm talking specifically about Sunset, for an "S." All factory parts. I guess I was just trying to make sure that those prices were pretty accurate. I'll do the work myself... no sense in bringing it to the dealer for an extra arm and a leg in cost ;)

It's an easy job anyway.

Try these guys for a quote. I have bought a lot of parts from them and had a very good experience. You have to do everything through the website but the prices are very good and delivery is quick. Last time I got my brakes through them and they were less expensive than Sunset. All Porsche OEM.
