hello,

Apparently, the Porsche PCM2 got many software version.

I'm talking about Software, not hardware.

I can see v1,2 and 3...

What differences is there between all the release?

And how can I upgrade my PCM2.0 to the last 3.0 firmware?

Thanks!

Hi - Apparently you can upgrade the PCM2 firmware using a CD-ROM from Porsche. This disc upgrades the firmware from software version 2.0 to 3.0. Im not really sure of the actual improvements but I believe it enables Post Code/Zip Code Input for destination?

I have an upgrade disk for 966/Boxter but not for Cayenne, apparently these use a different Device Number (6635 I think).

Can anyone else help us?

The PCM 3.0 firmware is also required if you want to install the latest maps (2008)

The update can take awhile to do, make sure you keep the engine running or put a charger on the car when you do it. THAT IS if you can get your hands on the disc which is hard to find now.

Hello out there, I just bought a 04 Cayenne Turbo and I was thinking about a upgrading due to missing the west coast cd of the 3. Mine is already v3.0 and I going to try to locate the CD or a copy of one. Do copies of CD's work? It worked out great for my Pioneer system for my truck. I would buy the new copy off of eBay every time they came out with one, but they are only selling complete sets there. If no one has issue with working with copies I could go buy the 2008 update and make copies of the set and depending on how many are interested the cost could be either half to $30 + the shipping cost, I think making more than 10 sets of 8 would be way too time consuming.

So if anyone is interested let me know, I plan on heading to the dealership this Thursday for it's 40K maintenance.
