I have a 911 966 carrera 1999 model.

last year I started the car and a big bang followed by some smoke and the engine light came on. After a lot of money later and cylinder compression testing, etc it came down to a loose juble clip.

The car was taking in air after the throttle body and in between the pipe connection to the cylinders.

Yesterday the same problem, I went to start the car while the engine was warm on a hot day a big bang like the engine blew !! and a lot of smoke from the engine bay. I called out the recovery services and he said three cylinders were not running properly and there was a major misfire and was unable to tell me were the smoke came from.

its running ok now but i dont know why this happened, i am realy scarred to drive the car now incase anything major goes wrong.

I would tow it to your mechanic and have him run the codes and see what you find. Without the correct error codes we will be just guessing
