03 Porsche Boxster radio

Hi, everyone new to this site and to owning a Porsche. Just recently my battery went dead, once I replaced it I started having problems with the radio it would cut out and would not come back on, next day it worked fine then I lost all sound to the passenger side of the vehicle. Could this be a radio problem or amp. or does it have to do with this code thing I have read about on other site Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? Dealership want me to leave the vehicle there for trouble shooting. Not sure if I want to do that yet.

Start by checking the fuse panel (fuses) on the left front lick panel.

If the radio fuse is okay there then go on to checking the fuse on the back of the radio. The radio will need to come out of the dash to do that - the removal tools have been covered here elsewhere (do a search).

In a few cases the amp sometime just dies - so that would be the worst case.

Welcome to the P-Car club. Your 03 is a MOST bus car, so it doesn't use any radio codes. The radio communicates with the other modules, and if it thinks it's in the right car, it will play. I would check the plugs at the amp, it's in the front hood, mounted just in front of the battery, if you just had it replaced, something could have been knock loose. Check the balance control on the radio, if someone else played with the radio, well, I've seen people do amaizing things with the audio controls. Do you have rear or door speakers? Are all of the speakers on that side dead? As Loren mentioned above, check the fuse for the radio and amp, and fuses on the back.

If these problems started immediately after replacing the battery, you might turn the radio off, put the windows down, open the front trunk, and disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect the battery. If the radio was on when you connect the battery, it might have messed up the "handshake" between the radio, the amp, and the rest of the car.

Let us know what you find.

I would trouble shoot the stereo if i was you, check the current draw on the battery after the car has been turned off, key removed, trunk open,trunk light disconnected and left for at 10 mins for the system to shut down complete. My stereo was drawing 100 milliamps and i killed 2 original Porsche batteries, i even replaced the ignition switch thinking that it kept my stereo on. I removed my stereo and sent it to Borsch to get repaired but they wanted $600 AU so i got one on Ebay for $150 US, face plate was a bit rough but used my original instead. All good. :cheers:
