seat cushion repair

My passenger seat cushion got wet and did NOT respond to any leather care (Lexol, Leatherique, etc) and remains hard. Recently I found a two inch tear in the leather. Any suggestions? Am I able to replace just the seat cushion leather? Nothing has softened the leather and I don't see any way to repair the tear if it stays hard.

They have a seat cushion bottom kit available. The fit will be good but the color might not be the perfect match if your existing seats are faded. I've never worked on porsche seat leather but I have done some uphostery work on other cars - it is usually a pain in the A$$. not super complicated work but really time consuming and makes your fingers really tired.

Otherwise I'd take your car to an upholstery shop to see what they can do - some upholstery shops can do amazing things - they may very well be able to soften up the leather and repair the tear.

I think there are many seats laying around that people have upgraded from. I found a pair of seats on ebay from a Boxster and used to replace all of the leather on my 996 for less than the cost of aftermarket leather.

Don't go to Leatherique.... Got screwed big time --- real ripe off company. Just my warning for very bad experience and no customer support.

Bottom line cost me 10 or 20 times more after using there product.

Go the Surflex site (goggle) and look into their product called "Soffener", I have used it on my seats and leather and there is nothing like it. It does't put on a shiny finish and leaves the original sheen. It is great stuff! I think it is about $30 for a 1 quart can, which would do a 100 cars.
