I've found a note in the cars bundle of invoices/history which mentions that the variocam is/was stuck in the advanced position. This was dated 10 months and 10k miles ago. I'm not too sure whether this has been addressed or not.

Has anyone experienced this before?

What symtoms should I expect?

Is it a big job to fix?

The CEL should be on if it is the case, the engine should run very rough on idle with this issue on one cylinder bank, the engine cuts off with this issue on both cylinder banks. I'm pretty sure this issue was solved 10 months ago.

No CEL but idle is a little rough, feels a little low. What rpm do they usually idle at? It's a 2001 C2 Coupe 3.4.

700 RPM +- 40 RPM is normal idle.

Chances are your rough idle is a dirty throttle body.

DO a search here for threads on cleaning the throttle body.

Ok, mine's idling at at about 650 and is a little lumpy.

Will check the throttle body.

Thanks for the advice.
