I just took delivery of a 2007 987 Boxster S that was CPO with 10,200 miles 2 weeks ago.

Artic Silver / Black leather with prefered package plus and power seats.

I have already gotten the itch to accessorise and changed out the side markers for clear and of course got bumperplugs to remove the front license plate. I will be tackling the removal of the airbag warning stickers this weekend from the visors.

Any other tips for easy mods that make big differences in either the way the car looks or drives?

Thanks for the welcome! I see you are from Canada and probably have the same winter storage problems that I will have being in the snowbelt of northern Ohio. I will keep it garaged and under cover w/ trickle charger, my question is about the oil changes. I have read other posts that you should store with fresh oil. Since the service intervals on the 987's is only 1 oil change every 2 years, would it still be recommended to change the oil before winter storage?

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

Hello,

Why not get a set of good winter tires like Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 and keep going all year round.

I do here in Poland, and it gets down to -30c.

I would, but I would like to enjoy the car for many years to come and I am afraid that the salt they use on the roads around here in the winter would do too much damage over time.

Beautiful car! I had a 986S in silver that I recently sold and miss it terribly.

Winter's tough on any car, but the Boxster is well-protected against salt and the elements. Just give her a good bath often.

I think the car is pretty as-is, but I'm a fan of the stock look. As far as the way it drives, some say you have the ideal setup. I seem to recall reading somewhere (Pano?) that a Porsche engineer favored the 18" wheels over the 19"s for handling. Enjoy the ride!

I do like the stock look and do not want to make any major changes but some things are done better in Europe. The clear side makers look much better IMO, especially on a silver car. And I want to thank Orient Express for the post on removing the US Airbag WARNING decals that for some reason have to be on both sides of the sun visors! The common rubbing alcohol worked flawlessly and did not damage the visor at all! Thanks again for that trick.

Congrat! IMO, the cheapest way to make a difference in how the car drives (better) is to sign yourself up for a driving school. Check your local PCA chapter for more info, you can also check BMWCCA (BMW) or ACCA (Audi). They have 1 or 2 days, 3 - 4 sessions a day and costs between $3 - $500. You'll get an instructor who will teach you (at a pace you're comfortable with) to get the most out of your car. And unlike most tangible mods that depreciates...this one you can take with you to the next car. :clapping:

Only word of caution I have is that these schools can be very addictive. A friend talked me into going to one (i really hesitated - worry about wear/tear/risks), but I was hooked after the 1st session - that was almost 8 yrs ago now.

Oil is cheap insurance in my opinion and storing it with fresh uncontaminated oil is key in having a long lived healthy engine. I know of several people that drive their P-cars in our winter with no ill effects to date but they are all 996 C4's as you wouldn't get around here very well with a low ride height and rear wheel drive.
