I have a C4S with PDK and I love it! It is my daily driver and has about 4500 miles on it after about 8 weeks. I've noticed on several occasions recently when driving in regular mode and stopped or at a slow roll the car won't immediately go when I press the accelerator. It seems to hesitate a second or two before the transmission engages. If I am headed up a slope the car will actually roll backward before the transmission engages. I'm starting to become a bit hesitant to pull out into traffic or to turn left across traffic coming toward me. I've looked for a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level but apparently this is not something that Porsche wants the end user to do.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their PDK transmission?

It's the nature of this manual-matic trans, its basically a manual tranny but with electronics to control the shift points. I have seen this in the shop with almost all these PDk's. It's not a hardware problem, depending how you drive it, it will adapt and learn your driving style. I have noticed that if the car is driven in an agressive manner the tranny's will usually shift better. There is a calibration that is possible with the tester but I havent seen it make a real difference. That being said, it looks to be software related, I assume if enough clients complain, then Porsche might do something about it.

Your experience re rolling back on a slope is odd since these cars have hill-assist !?

Don't know what a 4S would do to the equation, but my PDK C2 is very responsive. If it did what you describe, I'd be in the shop with it. On a decent slope the brakes grab enough to freak me out - no rolling back for sure, but I need to get used to that.

Caveat though - I am only in regular mode as long as I have forgotten to push Sport or S+ (not long) and I don't do Auto very often either. I found a really cool doc "2009_Technik_Introduction_All_997_Carrera_models.pdf" on some forum - could be here or PCA.org, not sure. Anyway, it explains much more about PDK (and more) than ever made it to the Owner's Maunals. Turns out the Sport and Plus modes also effect Manual shifting - cool stuff and makes S+ actually usable in normal driving. Auto and S+ is too over the top for around town for me.

I'll attach it - if that's a no-no, sorry, someone delete it. Actually, better, here's the link: (link deleted) Worth a read for sure.

I just picked up a 997.2 PDK Cab. I also noticed hesitation at stop lights. The car was delivered yesterday - how would i know if I received the PDK software update?

I just picked up a 997.2 PDK Cab. I also noticed hesitation at stop lights. The car was delivered yesterday - how would i know if I received the PDK software update?

The only way to know for sure is to have the dealer check their records and/or hook the car up to a PIWIS tester and re-program it to make sure.
