Hi gang,

I replaced the window on my 2000 boxster's top 2 years ago. Everything has been fine; however I noticed the following issue developing in the fabric:

Recently, the fold points in the rear quarters have begun to show as permanent creases. In points along these creases, the surface has begun to "pill", with the appearance being a bit fuzzy.

I don't know if the previous owner was sealing the top, but I do in the early spring and fall.

Any suggestions on removing the fuzz, or steps to preserve the material?

I've removed pilling from other fabrics by carefully shaving the surface with a plain old men's razor. I'm considering doing the same thing here despite a queasy nervous feeling.

I have the creases, but not the Fuzzy stuff.

What do you use to seal the top? I can't find anything specifically for rag-tops locally.

Use a product call Ragg-Topp from Hartz. You can order it from performance products or suncoast.

it comes in a 2 piece package with cleaner and sealer, or you can order the sealer only.

I've used raggtopp and renovo with good effect. I like being able to brush on the renovo.

The pilling is likely due to the previous owner using soap on the roof, apparently.

The first time I hosed off the top, I was distressed to see suds coming off the top. Soap was right into the material.
